Azmat War Shield Inspired Canoe

The pictures below are of original Papuan war shields. I just kind of want to share with you what inspired me to make this canoe. To delve deeper, these designs represent my people! My work bounces around the Pacific from Hawai'i to Tonga, Fiji, Solomon...but this represents home to me. The Highlands of West Papua and Papua New Guinea.
West Papua is not a sovereign nation...it was annexed by Indonesia. The indigenous people of this island have little to no say in how the country is run and how it's laws are made. The internet is filled with human rights violations caught on tape...of Papuans being treated more like animals then human at the hands of Indonesian control.
Check this link out...click here. It is a short story of what I am talking about.
The Indonesian government limits and sensors World reporters from accessing this part of the island...I wonder why?
I call this my 'Azmat War Shield Inspired Canoe' to proudly represent the people of West Papua. Ol lain blo Kumul...yumi stap lo wanbas.

This canoe is available for sale. Email the artist at raisindustries@yahoo.com
